Discovering the

HAMEAU DUBOEUF

In 1993, Georges Duboeuf decided to share his passion by imagining the Hameau Dubœuf: “I wanted to reveal to gastronomes, walkers or simply curious visitors, the behind-the-scenes of a little-known scene: that of vines and wine. I wanted to tell the story of Beaujolais”.

Today, the Hameau Dubœuf has become Europe’s first oenopark. The museum tells the story of 2,000 years of winegrowing, with over 3,000 exhibits.

– An impressive collection of wine-making equipment, vintage wine and spirits posters, corkscrews, glass bottles…

– A “Bistrot Beaujolais”: a wax museum recalling the great figures who made the history of Beaujolais.

– A presentation of wine-related professions: barrel-making, bottle-making, corking…

The Hameau Dubœuf is designed to be a fun place for families to discover the secrets of the land, the vines and the terroir. All shows are designed to make the visit both fun and educational: automatons, games, 5-senses tours, holograms, videos, interactive animations, explor games®…

Description of the area

Beaujolais, the first vineyard in the world to be recognized as a UNESCO World Geopark. Recognized in 2018 by UNESCO, this label rewards the Beaujolais region for its exceptional geology, its preservation and the education that goes with it.

From the foothills of the Massif Central to the Azergues Valley to the Saône Valley, Beaujolais soils have evolved over the centuries, giving it one of the most complex geologies in France. The most convincing example is, of course, Beaujolais wine! A single grape variety, Gamay, but 12 Appellations d’Origine Contrôlées (AOCs), all different thanks to the diversity of the soils!

A real asset to the region, the Geopark has been recognized as an Emblematic Tourist Site of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, thanks to the influence it brings to the region.
